The newly  posted commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Zaki M.Ahmed  and his management team paid a familiarization visit to  His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bauchi state, Mohammed A. -Total Number of People Registered:749,000 -FG to commence Training of Applicants The Federal Government social investment programme aimed at recruiting 500,000 graduates and 100,000 trainees said it has received 749,000 applications as at the close of the online portal on 31st of August. The Special Assistant to the President on Social Investment Programme, Mariam Uwais who stated this while speaking to journalists in Abuja said the N-power program received application from all the 774 Local government areas of the country with the highest applicants coming from Lagos, Oyo, Rivers and Bauchi. She said they are in the process of compiling the application and commence training of successful applicants by October adding that the training would last a period of one month before the participants are deployed to states to provide extension services. A major breakthrough was recorded last night in Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State as the leader of the dreaded Ekpeye Liberation Front,General Igbudu and five others were killed in an operation along East/West road in Ahoada East. It was gathered that they mounted a road block in Ihubu,opposite an NNPC filling station,along the East/West road for a robbery operation and a bus swooped at them that left them unconcious before the men of the JTF opened fire on them. NAF PROVIDES ADDITIONAL FACILITIES FOR RECRUIT TRAINING

New facilities were today commissioned on NAF Base Kaduna as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of personnel. Among the newly provided facilities are 1200-bed hostel built for recruits and, quarters for airmen instructors at the Ground Training Centre (GTC). Construction works on the new blocks of accommodation started some months ago in anticipation of the recent increase of fresh intakes from about 1200 to 2500 per annum. The increase in recruit intake is aimed at providing employment opportunities for more young Nigerians who are genuinely interested in serving in the military and, to enable the NAF meet its manning requirement to adequately tackle insurgency in the North East and emerging security challenges in other parts of the country. Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Bayelsa State on Wednesday, raided the private residence of the Bayelsa State Government House Accountant, Richard Etonye in a secret operation that lasted for about two hours. The house, located along Brass Road was allegedly raided on the orders of Governor Seriake Dickson after Etonye reportedly absconded with his principal's money said to be $4.6m. The money was handed over to the accountant by the governor for safe keep just a few days before the raid on Tuesday. SaharaReporters contacted a spokesman for Mr. Dickson who said that they were not part of the raid and were not informed as to why SARS raided Mr. Etonye’s home. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu yesterday told Niger Delta Coastal State monarchs and stakeholders that there was no infrastructure in the creek to show for the $40 billion released to the Niger Delta in the last 10 years. He told the monarchs who visited him in Abuja that he (the minister) went round the creeks and found no infrastructure that reflects the money disbursed to the region through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) or the 13 per cent derivation from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC). Breaking News: Four World Bank officials drown in Ekiti dam

Four World Bank officials had been reportedly drowned at Egbe Dam in Egbe Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State. Egbe Dam is the biggest of the six dams in the state. Folasade Akinrinmola, the Chairman of the council, and the state police command confirmed this development to newsmen on Thursday. Akinrinmola said the incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, involved a team of seven contractors employed by the World Bank on an assessment mission to the dam. She said the team had commenced work on Tuesday night from a section of the dam and moving to the other section when the incident happened on Wednesday. Six Years Of Waste: How Niger Delta Ministry Blew N800b Between 2009 And 2015

Enormous sums of money spent on the oil-producing Niger Delta region by the Federal Government between 2009 and 2015 delivered very meagre impact on the lives of the people of the area. According to the report of the Ministerial Technical Audit Committee on Contracts Awarded by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, the Federal Government spent over N700billion on 427 contracts and achieved a measly 8 percent impact, indicating that it was money not well spent.  Eighteen percent of the contracts were stalled, with only 12 percent completed. A hefty 70 percent remains under construction. “The technical auditing exercise of the projects revealed that the intervention expected in the Niger Delta only commenced at the level of contract awards and practically did not address the yearnings and needs of the region, as clearly captured in the mandate of the Niger Delta Affairs Ministry,” the report said. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a brother to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers State over alleged N2.4billion contract scam. Sources at the EFCC told PREMIUM TIMES that Francis Ayade was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the scam. Mr. Ayade, managing director of Leophina Nigeria Limited and Hally Brown International Limited, was fingered in alleged shady deals involving diversion of public funds into his companies’ accounts. “Specifically, four different allocations from the Federation Accounts were alleged to have been diverted into Hally Brown International Limited’s account owned by him,” an official told PREMIUM TIMES. Investigations by EFCC operatives showed that Hally Brown International Limited was awarded a road construction contract to the tune of N2.4billion in 2011. Operatives of the Operation Delta Safe made a ground-breaking raid of a militant camp on Wednesday during which they arrested three suspected members of the Niger Delta Avengers, who were part of the group that attacked 343 troops located at Nembe. The Avengers had attacked the troops on August 8, 2016, and killed four soldiers. However, the ODS operatives led by Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie, acting on a tip-off, were able to track them to their camp at Epebu Creek in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in Bayelsa. The Niger Delta Avengers has announced a conditional ceasefire and agreed to hold talks with the  federal government following months of attacks on key oil and gas facilities that have hammered the economy. In a message posted on the Niger Delta Avengers’ (NDA) website late on Saturday, the group said it would “observe a cessation of hostilities,” so long as the country’s ruling party stops what it called harassment of innocent civilians. It said it would support efforts to negotiate with “the federal government of Nigeria, representatives from the home countries of all multinational oil corporations and neutral international mediators.” There have been unconfirmed reports for several weeks of talks underway with Abuja, and the government of President Muhammadu Buhari has invited rebels to discussions several times. Niger Delta Avengers expresses readiness to dialogue with Nigerian Government

The Niger Delta Avengers, the group responsible for renewed insurgency in Nigeria’s oil rich region, has expressed readiness for a peace deal with the federal government. The group, in a statement posted on its website late Saturday, said its disposition to dialogue and peace deal with government was conditional. Among its condition was multi-side engagement of relevant actors, restructuring Nigeria, and a cessation of military offensive in the region. “We are going to support any collective/negotiation team emerging from the Chief (Dr.) Papa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark Niger Delta elders and genuine stakeholders conference to engage with the federal government of Nigeria, representatives from the home countries of all multinational Oil Corporations and neutral international mediators,” the group said.
