Hotel workers kill boss, flee with CCTV, Car

It was  learnt that 59-year-old Lucky was stabbed to death on Friday by a three-man gang, suspected to be workers at the hotel, shortly after he returned from a trip to Kaduna. He was said to be at the hotel for the purpose of supervision. It was learnt that after killing the victim, the suspects took away the Closed Circuit Television decoder of the hotel, the victim’s phones and fled in his Peugeot 406 saloon car. They also took away a file containing certain information about the hotel. The security men at the hotel, who were the prime suspects, were reported to have fled immediately the incident happened and had since been unreachable on their telephone lines. They were identified as Frank Anavukko, Victor Anerah and Emmanuel Adeh. EFCC Arrests ‘Doctor’ For N6.7m Love Scam

The EFCC, has arrested one Chike Nnaemeka, alias Dr. Justified Isioma Nnaemeka Emerald, for conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of about N6.7million. Nnaemeka, who claimed to be a gynaecologist, allegedly collected the sum of money, under different requests, from his victim, Ani Nkechi Joy, an employee of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, after she was introduced to him by one of her classmates at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State. Following their meeting, the suspect, who also claimed to be an orphan and a lone Prince of Ihekpe Kingdom in Ogwuashi-Uku, Delta State, was joined in a traditional wedding with the victim on June 6, 2015. EFCC Arrests Fake Lamorde, Youth Corper and Five Others for Internet Scam

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a suspected impersonator posing as the former Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde. The suspect, Promise Tochi Nwalozie was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in a sting operation that yielded the arrest of six other internet fraudsters. One of the fraudsters, Onukagba Uche Prosper, is a youth corps member serving in the Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State. Nwalozie  was using the identity of Lamorde to send scam mails to foreigners, mostly Europeans and Americans and in the process extorted sizeable amount of foreign currencies from them. His weapon of fraudulent interaction with his victims was a fake electronic copy of the identity card of the former EFCC's boss.  Besides, he was also posing as Barrister Peter Jackson, a spurious lawyer working with the National Judicial Council, NJC in Nigeria. EFCC Arrests Fake Lawyer for N7m Scam

 Operatives of the EFCC have arrested a fake lawyer, Thankgod Okachi Echem  in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for defrauding his " client",  a sum of N7,000,000. Okachi, who confessed to be a School Certificate holder,  was arrested based on a petition to the EFCC by one of his “clients”: Mr. Jonny Wali alleged that the fake lawyer defrauded him of the sum of N7,000,000,  being part of the money awarded him by a Rivers State High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, as compensation in a legal battle involving him and the former Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) now Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company.

Man Rape Five Year Old Girl to Death In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl to death in Akedei Community, a riverine suburb in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The spokesman of the Command, Asinim Butswat, told newsmen on Friday in Yenagoa that the man was arrested on August 9. According to Butswat, the accused was arrested for sexually assaulting the girl to death in the area. He said: “The suspect was arrested on August 9, while the corpse of the little girl has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa for autopsy. “The suspect is being detained at the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, Yenagoa, while investigation is ongoing.”

NDLEA NABS MAN WITH ₦9.8m FAKE CURRENCY

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Kwara on Friday said it arrested Mohammed Adamu for possessing N9.8 million fake currency notes. The NDLEA Commander in the state, Mr Apeh Reuben, who presented the suspect to newsmen in Ilorin said the fake currency were mainly N1,000 notes. Reuben said Adamu concealed the fake notes in a carton of noodles wrapped with cello tape. He said that the suspect was arrested by NDLEA Jebba Command while on transit to Kano on Aug. 9, 2016. The commander said that Adamu conspired with a yet-to-be-identified individual in Ilorin to carry out the act. The Osun State Police Command has arraigned a 40-year-old man, Kamoru Shittu, for allegedly raping a physically-challenged pupil. According to a charge sheet obtained by our correspondent, Shittu was accused of raping the pupil, who is deaf and dumb, on the premises of the Osun State Secondary School for Persons with Special Needs, Osogbo, at about 10pm on March 7, 2016. The accused was arraigned on two counts of rape and assault. Women Who Take Sugary Drinks At Risk Of Cancer – Research

Researchers in a new study reported on Tuesday at the American Society for Nutrition annual meeting in San Diego that people who consume a lot of processed carbohydrates, think snack foods and sweets and sugary drinks may face heightened risks of breast and prostate cancers. According to Webmd, given that breast and prostate cancers are two of the most common cancers in the United States, the connection gives more reason for people to cut processed foods from their diets, a lead researcher Nour Makarem has said. Makarem, a Ph.D. candidate in nutrition at New York University said, “The carbohydrate quality of your diet matters for a number of reasons.” In general, health experts already recommend limiting sugary drinks and processed carbohydrates, and eating more fruits, vegetables, legumes, fiber-rich whole grains and “good” unsaturated fats.
