Firm introduces new power generation technology to Nigeria
With the incessant gas pipeline vandalism and other problems facing the power sector, Dragonfly Power Nigeria is set to revolutionize power generation in the country with the introduction of its unique Wind Turbines.

Dragonfly Wind Turbines is a jet engine concept wind turbine styled and designed to produce a minimum of 2mw on a single pole.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Dragonfly Nigeria, Idongesit Nkereuwem: “The issue of power supply in Nigeria has become a national embarrassment to Nigeria and Nigerians.
“A country of about 200 million people grappling with less than 5000MW is simply unimaginable and unacceptable.

“We must do something to change this situation.
“It is in this regard that Dragonfly Power Nigeria Limited, a joint venture between Dragonfly Industries International, USA (manufacturer) and Magnifique Integrated Concept Limited, seeks to ameliorate the challenges facing power generation in Nigeria with its technology.”

To provide power solutions in Nigeria, Nkereuwem said the company intends to partner with existing Generating Companies, Distribution Companies, State Governments, Federal Government, industries, Private companies and other investors to boost power generation in Nigeria.
He said: “We must energize Nigeria.

“Dragonfly has demonstrated to some DISCOs, investors and the Federal Ministry of Power its unique wind turbines.”

The Dragonfly CEO explained further that the strategy of Dragonfly Power Nigeria is to partner with existing GENCOs to ramp up and increase their generating capacity, especially the hydro-electric companies that experience low water level during dry season.

Dragonfly Power Nigeria also intends to partner with large manufacturing firms and send power directly to their factories so that the pressure on the grid can be reduced and power can be channeled to the greater populace of Nigeria who experience hardship due to power outages.

“DPN will also partner with Discos so that it will supply directly to their existing 33kv network using their various feeders,” he explained.

Nkereuwem further explained that they will partner with the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Traders, owners of the grid, and deploy these turbines from the Northern axis to ensure equilibrium supply to the National Grid since power is drawn majorly from the South and a lot of power is lost before it gets to the North.

He said: “With a lot of determination by world leaders to stop pollution and embrace clean energy solutions, Dragonfly is at a vantage position to solve the world’s energy problem as the energy is totally clean.

“Dubai wants to generate all its energy from clean sources.
“China, USA, Britain have channeled funds into research for clean energy generation.”

In what looks like hope restoration to a situation that seems very difficult, the CEO of Dragonfly Power added: “This product will be the next great step in the Nigerian power industry.
“We look forward to a time when every region of this country and Africa is supplied with our ‘GREEN Energy’ by this innovative renewable power source.”

Dragonfly Power Nigeria is currently working on some projects in Nigeria.

The output from the system is 33kv and can be connected directly to local distribution network, which is 33kv.
It can also be stepped up to the grid or stepped down to 400volts for local use.

Dragonfly Wind Turbines are a new concept in wind technology.
It does not suffer from the same restrictions as conventional windmill style turbines.

Dragonfly Wind Turbines are capable of operating in low or high wind speeds.

The technology has a much smaller footprint and is almost silent.
One hectare of land is enough to give 10MW of power.
Dragonfly wind turbines is installed at lower operating heights of 40 metres.

It has a built-in UPS to give continuous regulated power at all load conditions.

It can be lowered to the ground for ease of maintenance.
The concept is based on a jet engine styled set of rotor blades cleverly arranged to seek out the maximum energy from the smallest amount of wind.

It can be deployed in about 90 per cent of Nigeria based on the wind study conducted be Energy Commission of Nigeria.
Dragonfly wind turbines are unaffected by high wind speeds and can happily continue operating even in Gale force conditions.
Nkereuwem said: “It is indeed the ‘Rolls Royce of Clean Energy’ in balance with nature.”
