Buhari Deploys Service Chiefs to Niger Delta Over Rising Militancy

Image
President Muhammadu Buhari has made good his threat to deal with those blowing up oil installations in the Niger Delta like Boko Haram terrorists are being dealt as he has dispatched the nation’s service chiefs to the oil-rich region to confront the resurgent militancy and secure the area from economic sabotage and other acts of criminality. It would be recalled that Buhari had while in China, warned those behind unlawful activities in the region to either desist from any criminal acts and economic sabotage or be ready to be treated like terrorists operating in Nigeria’s North-east. In line with a presidential directive, a team, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Gabriel Olanisakin, accompanied by the Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas yesterday stormed the headquarters of the Operation Pulo Shield in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Bayelsa Governor Dickson, Deputy Exchange Blows In Government House

Image
Unpalatable news is coming from the Bayelsa State Government House situated in Yenagoa, the state capital. Sources revealed that the combatants were no other than the two major occupants of the edifice – Governor Henry Seriake Dickson and his deputy, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah. The slugfest, said to have been witnessed by some of their aides and domestic staff, was allegedly triggered off when the deputy governor advised his boss to pay civil servants in the state the three months salary arrears to bring peace and tranquility to the state. Annoyed by what he considered his deputy’s effrontery, Governor Dickson was alleged to have thrown the first punch. The deputy governor, a retired naval officer, allegedly countered with a deadlier punch which staggered ...

PRESS RELEASE: Boko Haram Now Gives Loans To Youth As Bait For Membership

Image
It has come to the knowledge of the Defence Headquarters that Boko Haram terrorists have now devised another means of recruiting unsuspecting youths into their fold.   In this clandestine dispensation, Boko Haram terrorists have resorted to providing loans to young entrepreneurs and artisans in the North East as a way of inducing them for recruitment. The major targets of the unholy business engagement are youths in the North East, especially the butchers, traders, tailors, beauticians and other vocational entrepreneurs who could be easily enticed with such loan without paying attention to sundry inherent dangers associated with the acceptance of such goodies from this satanic group or unfamiliar source.  After such loans, the beneficiaries are given the option of either joining the group or risk being killed if they fail to pay the loan as at when due, whereas the payment has been surreptitiously programmed to fail by the benefactor, the Boko Haram. It is pertinent to state t...

Makarem, a Ph.D. candidate in nutrition at New York University said, “The carbohydrate quality of your diet matters for a number of reasons.” In general, health experts already recommend limiting sugary drinks and processed carbohydrates, and eating more fruits, vegetables, legumes, fiber-rich whole grains and “good” unsaturated fats. Makarem added that the new findings, though considered preliminary until published in a peer-reviewed medical journal adds more weight to that ad...
