Buhari Deploys Service Chiefs to Niger Delta Over Rising Militancy

President Muhammadu Buhari has made good his threat to deal with those blowing up oil installations in the Niger Delta like Boko Haram terrorists are being dealt as he has dispatched the nation’s service chiefs to the oil-rich region to confront the resurgent militancy and secure the area from economic sabotage and other acts of criminality.

It would be recalled that Buhari had while in China, warned those behind unlawful activities in the region to either desist from any criminal acts and economic sabotage or be ready to be treated like terrorists operating in Nigeria’s North-east.

In line with a presidential directive, a team, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Gabriel Olanisakin, accompanied by the Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas yesterday stormed the headquarters of the Operation Pulo Shield in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Buhari Offers Assistance To Germany In Defeating Terrorism

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep shock and horror at the shootings which recently rocked Munich, Germany. On behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Buhari sends his most sincere condolences to the families and friends of victims of the barbaric act. The President says it is quite unfortunate and inconceivable that the forces of evil do not relent on their activities, but expresses confidence  that with the unanimity of purpose from all forces around the world, the workers and perpetrators of these evil acts will not prevail. Alleged N225,000 Bribe: SERAP Drags NJC, NBA To UN, Seeks Suspension Of Rickey Tarfa

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sent a petition to Ms. Monica Pinto UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers requesting her to urgently prevail on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to suspend the judge involved in the alleged receipt of N225, 000 bribe. The group also asked Ms Pinto to prevail on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to ask the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) to suspend the lawyer involved in the alleged payment of N225, 000 bribe in Nigeria, pending the completion of any investigation as well as final determination of any trial on the matter.
