UNBELIEVABLE: FIFA Begins Erasing Sepp Blatter From World Football History

In continued calculated moves by the new board of the world soccer governing body, FIFA to erase its erstwhile president, Sepp Blatter from football history, the Swiss has been left out of the body’s birthday wishes to football stakeholders across the world today.

According to reports in The Sun UK and attendant posts by FIFA on its official Twitter handle on Thursday, Blatter was not mentioned in birthday wishes tweeted even though today is expected to be a memorable day for him as he turns 80 years old.



This follows the almost non-existent presence of the former most powerful football administrator in the world from FIFA’s newly opened football museum just days before the presidential election in February.

Blatter was curiously missing from the museum project that he had initiated before leaving office with only one portrait of him referring to his tenure as FIFA president and nothing more. The museum was built to display and document important football activities in the last century at least.

Blatter stepped down as FIFA president last year before being banned from football for six years following an investigation into his dealings even as Swiss prosecutors accused him of criminal mismanagement or misappropriation over a TV rights deal and of a “disloyal payment” to suspended UEFA president, Michel Platini.

French authorities seized documents from the French Football Federation in connection with Switzerland’s criminal investigation into Blatter.

The criminal investigation into Blatter began in September after numerous calls for Fifa to be investigated for corruption.
Blatter — who served as head of world football’s governing body from 1998 until 2015 — and Frenchman Platini have denied any wrongdoing.

Last month, Uefa general secretary Gianni Infantino was elected as Blatter’s successor and has vowed to “restore the image” of FIFA.

Oil Firms Not Paying Accurate Dues To NDDC – Semenitari

The acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, on Thursday told the joint National Assembly Committee on Niger Delta that all the oil firms operating in the oil-rich region were not fully complying with the law in their remittances to the commission. The NDDC Act mandates the oil firms to pay three per cent of their annual budget to the commission which is expected to utilise same to carry out its mandate in the region. But Semenitari lamented before the Senate and the House of Representatives’ joint committees at an interactive session that the oil firms were just remitting whatever they like to the commission from inception. She stated that the NDDC did not have access to the annual budget of the firms and therefore urged the National Assembly to assist the commission to get the fiscal document from the firms so that the agency would be able to receive the accurate remittances due to it.
