Sergio Aguero Set To Leave Manchester City
Argentine striker and one of the highest paid players in the English Premier League, Sergio Aguero has confirmed that he will leave the Etihad Stadium of Manchester City in two years.
According to The Sun UK, Aguero revealed that he would not renew is his contract with the club which will have outgoing Bayern Munchen manager, Pep Guardiola as coach at the time (all things being equal).
Aguero, who has always said he wanted to return to boyhood club, Independiente before the end of his playing days, says his time at City will be up by summer of 2018.
The Argentina international was quoted as telling radio station, El Rojo En La Uno, that he has ignored reports of him signing a contract extension because he was actually headed back home.
“In the last few months a lot of things have been said about a new contract, but I didn’t pay any attention.
“It’s clear to me that when my contract ends, after the World Cup [Russia 2018], I’m going to Independiente. My family knows it, I will return as soon as my Manchester City contract finishes in 2018.
“City are aware of it. They know that I want to go back to Argentina. I give my word — I will go to Avellaneda [home city of Independiente].
“The club are happy with me and they have even told me they would be open to a deal if the chance of a transfer arises. But where would I go in Europe? When my contract is up I will go to Argentina to play for the Reds.”
Aguero’s brace against Aston Villa on Saturday took his tally to 128 goals in 194 games for City. The goal poacher scored 23 goals in 54 league games for Independiente before joining Atletico in 2006.
