President Buhari Orders Merging of NSC, Sports Ministry

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the merging of the National Sports Commission with the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development.

The NSC is the Nigerian apex body responsible for regulating sports in the country.

It is also headed by the Minister of Sports in Nigeria and it's origin dates as far back as 1910.

Over the years, the commission has undergone a series of name changes and has existed as a separate body since it got the name NSC.

Minister of the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development , Solomon Dalung on Thursday, March, 10 revealed that the president has ordered the merging of the NSC and the ministry.

"President Muhammadu Buhari gave the directive for the merger of the National Sports Commission with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development ," Dalung wrote on Facebook.

Dalung also disclosed that the president has ordered the scraping of the Office of the Director General of NSC, adding that the creation of the commission had no legal backing.

Don’t Smear Amaechi’s Name, Kinsmen Warn PDP, NASS

Kinsmen of the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday warned the Peoples Democratic Party and the National Assembly not to damage the integrity of the minister over the alleged non-inclusion of the Lagos-Calabar Railway project in the 2016 Budget. The relatives of the former governor of Rivers State, who came together under the aegis of Concerned All Progressives Congress Members, explained that the saga was a blackmail to smear Amaechi’s image. Abnedgo Don-Evarada, a former media aide to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The suspect was arrested on Monday in Port- Harcourt, Rivers State for allegedly offering a bribe of N10million to the EFCC’s Zonal Head, Ishaq Salihu. Mr. Don-Evarada ran into trouble when he approached Mr. Salihu over a case involving the Senior Special Assistant to the Bayelsa’s state governor on Millennium Development Goals, Apere Embelakpo and his wife, Fiene Beauty. Mr. Embelakpo is being investigated for alleged diversion of N800million, being funds meant for MDGs, while his wife is being investigated for alleged money laundering, forgery and suspicious transactions to the tune of N200million.
