Arsenal Star, Ozil Makes Transfer Demand

Arsenal’s mercurial midfielder, Mesut Ozil has demanded of the management of the London club that new signings be made in the summer ahead of the new season.

According to reports in British media on Monday, the German midfielder believes the Gunners will need reinforcements if it is to compete with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City next term.

“We know that it will not be easy and that we need reinforcements if we want next season to be on top here again,” Ozil told Welt am Sonntag .

“It is again interesting to see who invests in who and how much the clubs do during the summer break.”

Guardiola will take over as City boss for the start of next season, having agreed a three-year deal at the Etihad. And Ozil is in no doubt that the Spaniard will make an instant impact in England.

“We know that it will not be easy and that we need reinforcements if we want next season to be on top here again.
“He will be imprinting his football in England and people will be surprised.”

“It is again interesting to see who invests in who and how much the clubs do during the summer break.

“In addition, great coaches are coming into the league. I am thinking primarily of Pep Guardiola.

“Wherever he has been, he had success. He is a coach, keen on playing and his teams are feared.

“I wonder what he will do with Man City. He will be imprinting his football in England and people will be surprised.”

Ozil also insists that the hope of the title for Arsenal is still there.

“The hope is still there. I do not think it impossible.”

“Leicester have a run against some of the big teams to come. We ourselves must not allow any more slip-ups.”

He added: “We have not been focused in every game, and that is not possible in the Premier League since there is no opponent you can beat easily.

“Leicester have been great, but there are still a few games. I think we still have a chance to catch up. And we must hope for mistakes.”

Abnedgo Don-Evarada, a former media aide to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The suspect was arrested on Monday in Port- Harcourt, Rivers State for allegedly offering a bribe of N10million to the EFCC’s Zonal Head, Ishaq Salihu. Mr. Don-Evarada ran into trouble when he approached Mr. Salihu over a case involving the Senior Special Assistant to the Bayelsa’s state governor on Millennium Development Goals, Apere Embelakpo and his wife, Fiene Beauty. Mr. Embelakpo is being investigated for alleged diversion of N800million, being funds meant for MDGs, while his wife is being investigated for alleged money laundering, forgery and suspicious transactions to the tune of N200million.
