Could This Be The End of Tompolo? – By Joe Onwukeme

Image
One person of interest, an Aso-empowered brigandage, Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, a former militant leader, like a wounded telltale, has been in the dock of public opinion for acts bothering on corruption, fraud, money laundering and sabotage on the nation’s economy. Government Ekpemupolo popularly known as Tompolo, (born 1971), is a Nigerian militant commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, (MEND). For years Ekpemupolo commanded various guerrilla groups in the Niger Delta and with his vast wealth, aided in the proliferation of arms in the region. Tompolo and his culprits-in-chiefs’ meteoric rise to national attention was made possible in the past through series of uncoordinated attacks in the creeks of Niger Delta, ranging from pipe line vandalization, oil bunkering, setting up of illegal refineries, kidnapping of expatriates and other acts of sabotage under the guise of agitating against the insensitivity of the Federal Government and the internationa

All of Us At PDP Should Apologise To Buhari, APC & Join Them – Fani Kayode Stirs Fresh Controversy Over Ali Modu Sheriff As PDP Chairman

Image
On the 16th of February 2016, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) adopted Senator Ali Modu Sheriff (aka SAS), a two-time ANPP Governor of Borno state, a former ANPP senator, the former Chairman of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Board of Trustees and the indisputable founder of Boko Haram as its Acting National Chairman. Modu-Sheriff is also the erstwhile godfather and sponsor of Governor Shettima Ali, the present APC Governor of Borno state (until they fell out), he is a man that has a very deep and profound relationship and association with Idris Deby, the President of Chad and he is a man whose son is married to the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari. Many have argued that his allegiance is more to the Republic of Chad than it is to Nigeria, that he is an agent of the Chadian intelligence agencies and that he is a Chadian citizen who often flaunts his Chadian passport. I cannot confirm the veracity of these assertions but one thing that I know is that most of Mod

APC Congratulates David Mark On His Benue South Senatorial Rerun Election Victory

Image
The All Progressives Congress has congratulated a former President of the Senate, David Mark, for his victory in the Benue South Senatorial rerun election held Saturday. Mr. Mark was declared winner early Sunday morning amid protest by his main challenger, Daniel Onjeh, who demanded that the election be declared inconclusive. The former senate president scored 84,192 votes, leaving a margin of 12,571 votes between him and Mr. Onjeh, who garnered 71,621 votes. A total of 29,273 votes were cancelled. After Mr. Mark was declared winner by INEC, Mr. Onjeh’s agent protested, saying the number of cancelled votes (29,273) was higher than the margin of win (12,571). He therefore contended that the election should have been declared inconclusive. He also accused INEC of cancelling votes in APC’s strongholds, and indicated that his party and its candidate would challenge Mr. Mark’s victory. But despite the protest by its own candidate, the APC congratulated Mr. Mark, in what appears an endorseme

CBN Asks Nigerians To Report Cases Of Illegal Charges By Banks

Image
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has asked banks’ customers to report cases of excessive and in some cases illegal charges by Deposit Money Banks. In a statement on Saturday by the CBN’s spokesman, Ibrahim Mu’azu, the apex bank said it had received series of complaints from customers of Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) alleging excessive charges from their respective banks. The bank reiterated that the Revised Guide to Bank Charges clearly specified allowable charges for all banking services, warning that it would not in any way condone the fleecing of banking customers under any guise. “It was in the quest to provide a strong voice to banks’ customers and moderate the arbitrary charges that the CBN in 2012, established its Consumer Protection Department,” the statement read. The apex bank said it had investigated over 6,000 complaints relating to unauthorised bank charges brought to its notice and that banks had been compelled to refund over 6.2 billion Naira to affected customers in 2015
