Wike, Fayose ‘ll ruin PDP, not APC, not Sheriff says Bode George

Image
Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olabode George yesterday said the party was in ruins and imminent danger. Addressing a conference at the Lagos PDP secretariat, George’s Political Adviser, Mr. Uthman Shodipe-Dosunmu said Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose were bent in destroying the party. He said the August 17 convention would have divided the party more, stressing that the convention was hijacked by the two governors to prosecute their 2019 ambitions. George said: “This is indeed a sad period for the PDP; the sky is dark and bleak. The party is now at the edge of a cliff, dangling before imminent ruins and forfeiture. Our party has lost its soul, its fundamental defining logic of existence, stripped of all values of justice, fairness and equity. “We thought that the crisis provoked by the issue of Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff would be finally laid to rest after the August 17 convention, but we couldn’...

Enormous sums of money spent on the oil-producing Niger Delta region by the Federal Government between 2009 and 2015 delivered very meagre impact on the lives of the people of the area. According to the report of the Ministerial Technical Audit Committee on Contracts Awarded by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, the Federal Government spent over N700billion on 427 contracts and achieved a measly 8 percent impact, indicating that it was money not well spent.  Eighteen percent of the contracts were stalled, with only 12 percent completed. A hefty 70 percent remains under construction. “The technical auditing exercise of the projects revealed that the intervention expected in the Niger Delta only commenced at the level of contract awards and practically did not address the yearnings and needs of the region, as clearly captured in the mandate of the Niger Delta Affairs Ministry,” the report said. The beneficiary states are Abia, Akwa...
